While it might be tempting to spray your whole place with bleach (that makes things “clean,” right?), a lot of common household cleaning products are actually pretty toxic to our health. Luckily, there are alternative ways to keep things fresh and sanitary.
All purpose cleaner – mix together one part vinegar and one part water in a spray bottle. Use to clean bench tops. If you have marble substitute rubbing alcohol instead of vinegar. Add essential oil for a nice smell.
For clogged drains pour 1/2 cup of bicarb soda into drain and follow with 2 cups of boiling water. If that doesn’t work, follow the bicarb soda with 1/2 cup of vinegar and cover drain with pot lid until finished fizzing. Add a few cups of boiling water to rinse out.
For a home-made germ killer mix 2 cups water with 3 tablespoons of liquid soap and 20-30 drops of tea tree oil.
Natural lemon juice gets rid of mould and mildew, cuts through grease and shines hard surfaces.
